Secret is out. I’m not some trained calligraphy master, handwriting connoisseur, student of typography, creator of fonts. Anyone, and I mean anyone, can “fake” calligraphy without special pens, paper, or proper training. Of course, I have so much respect for those who can use the traditional calligraphy tools and am looking to learn how to do that next. But for those of you who just want to add a little flourish to your DIY house decor, greeting cards, or doodles, don’t worry! You can and I’m going to show you how I do it.
All you need is a writing tool of choice and something to write on. Use whatever surface you want- whether it be canvas or printer paper. I’d recommend practicing a bit before moving on to the real thing.
I have a few different examples of how I did this. The example above and those done in black ink at the bottom of this page were done using the Faber- Castell pens pictured below as well. The ones done in colored ink are to show you a very easy calligraphy tool that I bought to begin- brush pens. If you’re looking to make it a hobby, these are a great way to start. They take a bit of practice but work well and are easy to use. I linked them at the bottom for anyone interested, though I'm sure they can be found much cheaper on Amazon.
And there you go! An easy way to attain the beautiful handwriting you’ve always wanted! Try it out and let us know how it goes!
I am a firm believer that a homemade gift is the best kind. Generally, food is my favorite but these might just come at a close second. I think these DIY dot mugs are so cute and super easy for all artistic levels.
First thing is first, here are the materials you will need:
- A plain mug (I got mine from the dollar store and it works perfectly)
- A template (I googled Disney Castle and chose an easy one to cut out)
