Ever since we took the kickboxing class they offer at Chapman, we've been looking for a way to do a real class. With bags, gloves, the works. Not only is kickboxing a great way to get some exercise, its super fun and an amazing stress reliever- not to mention a legal one that won't hurt you or anyone around you! Jaryn and I saw a deal at CKO Kickboxing that gave us 3 classes and gloves for only $20 and decided to go for it. Conveniently only 8 minutes from our house, it was easy to get up early on a Saturday morning and give it a shot.
We were clearly stoked and honestly, it met and exceeded our expectations. We are both college athletes and consider ourselves to be in pretty good shape, but after an hour of warm up, attacking the bags, abs, and a cool down stretch, we were both drenched in sweat. Those roundhouse kicks? Yeah they got me. If you aren't an athlete or don't consider yourself to be in great shape, though, don't sweat it! The best thing about this class was that it was completely at our own pace. Our instructor gave us combinations and then let us get whatever we wanted out of the time we had on the bag. I think it is great exercise for all levels and a fun way to stay active. We will definitely be going back. The instructor, Vivian, is a fellow Chapman student and was so high energy and motivating, it made the experience all the more fun.
